Principal's Message

Dear Canyon Springs Families:

As we get ready to begin the 3rd quarter of school, I would like to discuss the importance of consistency and timely school attendance. Our goal is for every student to attend school regularly.   Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success and self-esteem. I know that students and families have faced many challenges throughout the pandemic but we also know that our best chance of helping your students reach their full potential is for them to attend school consistently.

To stress how important consistent attendance is for our students, for the remainder of the school year, any students with more than 7 unexcused absences per quarter will be dropped from regular classes.   Students who are dropped from regular classes have the option to attend our afterschool program on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays, from 3:00-4:45 P.M. and to work on credit recovery during that time.

We recognize there are times when a student cannot attend school. When we are notified of the student’s absence, this is considered an Excused absence. Examples of Excused absences would include doctor appointments, illnesses, or quarantine. It is important that if your son or daughter is unable to attend school that you contact us at (208) 455-3325.

Students who arrive more than 20 minutes after a class period has started are considered absent from that period.  Five of these Tardy Late absences can be made up during the after-school program from 3:00-4:45 PM.

Our hope is that we can encourage consistent attendance for our students in order to help them achieve their goal of graduating from high school.  Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can be of any support.
